Beyond the Label: Global Strategies for Sustainable Seafood

Register Today!

Overview

Sustainable seafood has long been a cornerstone of U.S. fisheries—anchored in science, strong management, and third-party certification. But with rising expectations around climate action, responsible sourcing, and traceability, the bar continues to move.

This forward-looking session explores how global seafood leaders are building on that foundation to meet the next generation of sustainability goals—combining robust standards with new technology, cross-sector collaboration, and transparent practices that resonate with consumers and markets alike.

Meet the Panelists

Andrea Keikkala serves as the Executive Director of United Catcher Boats, bringing expertise in fisheries management, public and government affairs, and organizational leadership. Prior to joining UCB, she held a senior leadership role at the International Pacific Halibut Commission, where she focused on operational efficiency, fiscal oversight, and stakeholder engagement. Andrea also led organizations in the chamber of commerce and education sectors, where she advanced policy advocacy and community development initiatives. She holds advanced degrees in Religious Studies and Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and is passionate about advancing science-based fisheries policy and supporting the next generation of industry leaders.

Originally from Juneau, Alaska, Andrea returns home often to go fishing and hiking with her family. She is also an avid bowhunter and skier, spending as much time as possible exploring the outdoors.

Tom has been in the Alaska seafood industry for over 20 years and has worked with ASMI since 2004 in a variety of roles, including chairing the Salmon Committee and the Retail Marketing Committees for a decade each. Currently he is a RFM board member, working for the Global Seafood Alliance on wild-capture issues and the global expansion of the RFM program.

Chad directs FLC operations and works with leaders in government, industry and the non-profit community to support FLC priorities and promote the value and sustainability of the Alaska cod fishery. See represents the FLC on the International Pacific Halibut Commission’s Conference Board.

Prior to coming to the FLC, Mr. See spent 13 years in Washington, DC. See worked in the U.S. Senate for Senators Patty Murray and Jay Rockefeller before joining K&L Gates LLP, a global law and lobbying firm. At K&L Gates, he served as a lobbyist primarily representing Pacific Northwest-based clients on federal funding and budget-related matters before Congress and the Administration. An active participant in the commercial fishing and maritime community, he is a board member for the United Fishermen of Alaska, the Washington Maritime Federation, and the Seattle Marine Business Coalition and serves on the advisory committee for the Alaska Business Forum.

Meet the Moderator

Hannah Lindoff is a life-long Alaskan and the Executive Director of SeaShare, a non-profit organization that works collectively with the seafood industry to donate seafood to food banks and feeding programs throughout the US. Prior to joining SeaShare, Hannah served as the Sr. Director of the Global Marketing and Strategy at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) where she managed nine regional marketing programs throughout the world. From 2019-2024 Hannah served on the Certified Seafood Collaborative (CSC) board which oversaw the Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) certification, which has now transitioned to Certified Seafood International (CSI) and she currently serves on the Alaska CSI committee and the board of the Global Seafood Alliance.

In 2017 Hannah received her Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Mary Washington College and is also the author of several books for children.
